I had to take yet another break from writing and creating in 2018.
I am not allowing that to further interfere as the year closes and we move into 2019.

So I am back on DA and writing several projects.

I hope to partner with fellow DA artists on some critical character design work and begin pressing forward on completing three of my children's books that really are long passed where they should have been shared with the world.

I grew frustrated after years of interference with projects and I am determined to put the things in place to complete these once and for all.

DM or note me if you are interested in working together on something.
My goal for 2019 is to release seven projects and get at least three more underway to have ready for 2020.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday and a wonderful New Year Celebration.

Thanks

Hello fellow creative types.

I am busy writing a large project that ties together several themes and a taste of history from Charleston, SC.
It is part ghost story and part historical sketch.  The research phase has been full steam since July 2017.  I believe the book, which started as a long form short story, is going to be the wildest process I have undertaken.
However, I completed a short story, a retelling of one of Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales titled "The Tinderbox".  It is a creepy and twisted tale of revenge and the testing of humanity.  Greed and what man is willing to do to sate his thirst.

I am posting a pdf of the third draft of the story on DA today and I feel it is going to be something really great to share.
Of course let me know what you think.  Especially if you know the original fairy tale and like myself hated the ending.
My version of this story is VERY different and favors a more modern view of justice if not a more equal sense of it.

My story is titled "A Light From the Fire" is a stand alone project but who knows.  Several of Anderson's fairy tales have just plain awful or unfortunate endings.   Maybe I will do a collection of rewritten and completely reworked tales.

After facing down death three times in the past two years, I am open to more ideas now than ever before.  I guess the fragile state of living being threatened does that to you.
I hope to be more active on DA this coming year.  I walk about 10 to 14 miles daily.  It grants me a perspective of the world I didn't have before and helps me pay the bills down from multiple visits in the hospital.

For now I say farewell.  I hope anyone who reads this finds inspiration and the time to get something creative done.  To quote Neil Gaiman, Go Make Art.

Thanks

9)  A Bite is Forever Part 2
10)  Sacrificial Eclipse

Apart from this list,
I have recently been spending an excessive amount of time hiking around with my dog, and riding a stationary bike.  I plan to lose all the weight I gained when I lost my spot in grad school to this wonderful economy and even better group of lousy politicians.

I have high hopes for 2013, and here is the real tricky part.  I gotta live long enough to do that!
Regardless.  All I want is a chance.
Enough with the sentiment, I am a storyteller first and foremost.
So I hope some of you out there, check out my work, feel free to let me know how it went, and just share.
Some recent journal posts on DA have inspired me to share an opinion.  We could all benefit from a more open DA.  So I want to express my desire that all of you who read this post will follow in my example.  I have regularly posted comments on DA, but it isn't enough.  I have posted some critiques, all constructive.
I hope many more of you will do this.  It can change a persons day, month, even life, to know that people are listening.  It has made just the right difference in the lives of many people I talk to hear on DA.  We are creative people.  So let's support eachother.
All I am asking is you take a couple of minutes each day, look at someone's work with careful appraisal, then post what you take from it.  But that isn't enough.  Find someone on here that you admire, read their actual words.  That is more than most of us do anymore. It's like we're allergic to reading.
Got to get on it.  Commenting, although it seems small.  Is anything but.

Due to the success of my Everlasting Night Book Series, we are holding a three day e-book giveaway for the Amazon Kindle.
Starting just after midnight on the 18th of this January the first book in the series, A Bite is Forever Part 1, will be free until midnight January 21, 2013.

I want to take this time to thank those of you who have already read one of the books.  It really means a lot to me to hear from you.
Some of you have only read Wolf Queen, or only part of A Bite is Forever Part 1, so this is a good time to get the first book in the series for free.

The series has a very politcal vibe with elements of real history intertwined into Vampire and Werewolf Society.  So far there are just the two books but the third and fourth books are well under way, will be available before you know it, and will continue the journeys of Alexander, Faye, Clara, Dartan, Chubbs, and so many more.

I hope you will enjoy the book, post on the site what your experience was with it, and tell your friends and family about my work, the giveaway, and how you enjoyed it.

Thank you all so much,

Scott Alexander Baker
